HIKE FROM SHAWFORTH TO PENNINE WAY 10 miles
SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER
This walk goes through meadows passing 3 farms before climbing steeply up to the moorland to cross over the Rossendale Way. Then across the moors to join The Todmorden Centenary Way for about a mile before leaving it to drop steeply down to Walsden.
Over the Leeds/Manchester railway and the Rochdale canal to climb up to the Pennine Way passing Gaddings Dam a remote disused reservoir with no vehicle access but a favourite for wild water swimmers. Once on the Pennine Way near Warlands Reservoir we will walk to The White House on Blackstone Edge. We then have a choice to either catch public transport back to Shawforth but it is only at 14.33 and 16.33 – takes 50 minutes or to walk down to Littleborough to catch the bus from there.
Starts at Quarry Street, Shawforth Lancashire OL12 8HD. Meet there at 6.30pm.
