The third of 5 circular walks to complete the Link Route to the Pennine Way
On a bleak and rainy morning, a small group of walkers set out from Cowpe village to make their way to Shawforth on the next section of the Link Route to the Pennine Way. After the steep climb up Rooley Moor Road we joined the Link Route at the point at which we left it on last month’s walk.
Once on the waymarked path we headed for the spectacular sites of Lee Quarry that looked even more desolate in the rain and mist.
As we made our way to Shawforth the weather improved and we returned to Cowpe in sunshine, but not before buying some of Laura’s free range eggs, on Rooley Moor Road, best you can buy at £1 for 6 eggs.
