Village Community Festive Walk. Mulled Wine and Mince Pies.
The planned route through Two Brooks Valley had been changed due to very muddy conditions caused by the recent heavy rain. The alternative route was a walk to Summerseat, leaving Greenmount at 10.30am with the aim to return before storm Garrit arrived. Twenty-two walkers headed down Kirklees Trail as far as Shepherd Street, where we turned left and walked as far as Tower Farm, this was shown on a recent episode of Celebrity Escape to the Country which showed the area in its full glory. After turning right, we continued across the bridge, over Kirklees Brook, which was very fast flowing due to all the rain.

We continued to follow the path past a couple of mill lodges before reaching the bottom of Kirklees Street, where we turned left, at the wishing stone, and headed over the footbridge to Brandlesholme Hall Farm.

After passing the farm we reached Barandlesholme Road, which we crossed, and headed down Wood Road Lane to Summerseat station, where we celebrated the festive occasion with mulled wine and mince pies.

Our return journey back to Greenmount took us along Hazel Hall Lane, having covered 5 festive miles.
