Heading West: Greenmount, Two Brooks Valley, Hawkshaw, Greenmount.

On a very wet morning, with a yellow weather warning for later in the day, eight walkers decided to brave the weather and attempt a short walk based on the original route. We began by heading down Kirklees Trail to Shepard Street, where we turned right and made our way through Old Kays Park and onto Turton Road.

Once across the road, we joined a footpath that turned right and took us past Clay Bank Cottages and eventually back onto Turton Road. After walking along the road for a short distance, we turned right at Tom’s Cattery and Country Pet Shop and joined a footpath that headed down to Two Brooks Valley, passing the old mill chimney on the way.

From here, we walked into Hawkshaw, where we turned left and walked along the road to the Red Lion Pub, where we turned right and headed towards Quarton. After a short distance, we joined a path on our right and headed up to Hawkshaw Lane. Once on the plan,e we turned left and then right at Higher House Farm, making our way to the Range House and on to Spenleach Lane.
